yay first comment! I think? Why is Jared so afraid to show his face to everyone? It seems to me Jared only shows his face to people he trusts or knows well.
ReplyDeleteHow did Jared get these awful burns? I feel horrible for him because of all the reactions he gets. I cant even imagine living like that. Were his burns a real accident, or did someone do this to him on purpose? I really want to know how all of this took place.

I'm confused on what the accident was. I feel really bad that Jared feels that way about his burns. If I think about it, i honestly dont know how i would react to him. But I dont think he should be afraid to show himself.
ReplyDeleteI getting awful burns like that would be horrible. I agree with Brittany, I can't imagine what life would be like constantly getting starred at or screamed at. That would be a horrible way to spend my life. I hope he gets to talk to that beautiful girl and hopefully make him feel like he can fit in again.

ReplyDeleteYou have all made some good points. Some of you seem confused by the fact that Jarod is so self-conscious about his face. How would you feel if you had this same problem? We all know that it is easy to judge people, especially at your age. How do you think people would react to you if you were in a similar situation?
ReplyDeleteI dont know if i would want to go to school like that, and like he said, he moved to a new school didnt he? That way he couldn't get the same pity sorrow from people. I think i wouldnt move, i would stay in my hometown so that way people would know what happen to my face, instead of assuming what happen to it... It's hard to put your self in Jared's situation

ReplyDeleteI liked this story. I was wondering why he was so afraid to show his face to people. I think Jared should just like who he is. It doesn't matter if there is something wrong with you. Just be yourself.

I think that Jared really is a good guy and needs to find relationships with people who can see through his imperfections. I hope Jared and Megan meet later and that Megan isnt a jerk to him! (;
ReplyDeleteWow. He has burns on his face, that stinks... To be honest, if I had burns on my face, I would probably wear a hat too. I wouldn't want people to stare at me and laugh, or even scream.
ReplyDeleteIn regards to this Megan figure, I would call her. If she wants to judge him because of what he looks like, than she is not a good person. She might be really nice and all that, but it's definitely not worth it if someone doesnt like you because of the way you look.
I also think Jarod needs to stop the surgeries. I know it could fix his face and he could be "normal" again, but it's not worth it. His scars are himself, and if people can't accept that, then forget them. They need to think how they would feel if they had burns on their face too. If they were Jarod.
So far, this story is all right.
PREDICTION : I think Jarod will end up calling Megan, and she will accept Jarod for who he is. Wouldn't that be nice?

I think Jarod chose to move because he was tired of his friends treating him differently. They did understand what had happened to him and because of this they continually showed sympathy for him. He got tired of everyone feeling sorry for him. What would it be like if all of your friends started treating you differently because they felt sorry for you?

im not even halfway through this story but i know or im ALMOST positive that he was burned because of the "skin graphs" and wow it must suck not being able to look in the mirror, when miranda comes over to my house or i go over to her house we stare at ourselfes for hours in the mirror together. I cant relate to him in the since of not looking in the mirror but i can relate to him for wanting to look in the mirror :)

WHAT HAPPENED WHEN MEGAN SAW JARED!?!?!?! I HATE CLIFF HANGERS?!?!?! WHY WHY WHY WHY. The story was ok. The last 3 pages was all fluff, I wanted to just skip right to the end because I was tired of reading a bunch of details that had nothing to do with seeing Megan...

ReplyDeleteAlright so I'm reading at home, (yes this story is that good) and I absolutely love the part when it talks about the ballad. I can just imagine it, because the author went into such great detail on it. If I may, I'd like to quote it.

I love that so much... I can actually hear the music in my ears, so sweet. Like "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" by Poison.

Dang, It sucks to be Jared when he calls Megan. The feel of rejection hurts. He just wanted to get to know her, and she's all, OH NO YOU DIDN'T! I find people like that annoying.

ReplyDeleteSince there seems to be quite a bit of people who don't understand where Jared had gotten the burns, he got them from a cookout. He was playing with the gas, (not sure why) and he ended up tripping or something and eventually it just burned his face.
when megan just looked up and it ended there! I want to know how she responded, how there relationship went on from there, and mostly WHAT SHE THOUGHT AND HOW SHE WAS FEELING!

I love this story. I feel so bad for Jared. I couldn't imagine having burns on my face and always having people staring at me and screaming. I think it would be really lonely.

ReplyDeleteRight on! Without two family members, the income in the household would be very hard to maintain. The skin patches were probably cheaper than plastic surgery, so they went with that option.

ReplyDeleteChris- You asked about the poem at the end of the story. The whole poem is talking about how he is going to be cool at the party but not until he puts on his nice clothes and basically changes his whole personality. That's what the author means when he says he will be wearing a mask.

Plastic surgery completely reconstructs your face. If I was injured, I would want my face to be natural. I would like it to heal anturally and overtime.
Isaac, the skin patches are called skin graphs. They are supposedly VERY painful, but probably not as painful as getting half of your face melted off!
